Sarah WYSIWYG

I like to think that most of our presidents in fairly recent history, & even the unsuccessful candidates, admire them or not, had resumes establishing why they merited the position. Nixon believed he merited it too much, but his qualifications were undeniable. That makes Sarah Palin's appeal to a large part of the right wing a puzzlement to me. An honest resume from her would have to include her high school employment, it's so thin. She has no intellectual distinction, a lousy grasp of language, no success in business or as a legislator of any importance. She's untraveled & uneducated because she lacks curiosity. It's obvious she's never been much of reader. WYSIWYG, although Palin continues to blame "media" for making her appear as the person she clearly is. Now she can add Oprah to the list.

Harry Truman, from a most modest background, had learned the nuts & bolts of government at the county level before serving ten years in the Senate. It was only by comparison to F.D.R. that Truman seemed unqualified for the White House. He was. Roosevelt may not have confided in his V.P. , but Truman knew what the president's job entailed.

I don't understand why conservatives want Palin to be president. Why do they want to do it to a nation that elected their hero, Ronald Reagan - who took office with experience & stature, & decades of deep interest in national issues & policy? Do they hate America?
