I'm almost envious of hockey fans, they've had a great Stanley Cup Finals, going to a 7th game in Detroit with the home team having won each of the previous six. The season ends Friday, & about two weeks after that they're back in training camp for next season?

As a hockey fan for a number of years, most of the time you want a 7 game series because it is exciting and extends the season. As a Wings fan, you want it over in four games!
The season used to be over in April or early May. Now it's the middle of June (thanks to the idiot commissioner Bettman - whom most despise - watch when he comes out to present the Stanley Cup, he'll be booed quite loudly).
They don't start training camp until August, with pre-season games starting in September and the opening games usually the first week of October.
