How Iran is ruled

Call me a cynic, but I think the Iranian election protests would dissipate if President Ahmadinejad gave away free iPods to the demonstrators with gift certificates for ten iTune downloads. They protest an illusory election result by demanding illusory "reform" with a new figurehead president who maybe doesn't embarrass Iran as much when he speaks at the United Nations or by denying the Holocaust. But they don't get to vote for or against the Ayatollah Khamenei and his council of clerics. We always overestimate the will & strength of the Iranian middle class. Democratic Theocracy is an oxymoron.
