The Colosseum is illuminated for two nights
in honor of New Jersey abolishing the death penalty.

Although it may seem a small thing - New Jersey hasn't had an execution in decades, with slim chance of there ever being another one - it's been noted as a significant moral victory all around the world.

Comments:
Our fair state just let up a collective shrug this week when we outlawed something that we had no plans to carry out in the first place. Sounds like a lot of puffery to me.

If you can't see the symbolism & need a symbol, visual the crucifix form of a lethal injection gurney. Until two days ago the use of that symbol depended upon the "we" & their "plans." If you're against the death penalty, then celebrate this small but significant victory instead of denigrating it. If you're for the death penalty, you can always move to Texas.
