Bar Talk
I'm tired of explaining
who I am & what I do,
I said to the woman sitting
next to me at the bar.
You never have to do that,
she said, but I knew she meant
I didn't have to explain
the poems she would never read.

"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be." Thomas Jefferson
who I am & what I do,
I said to the woman sitting
next to me at the bar.
You never have to do that,
she said, but I knew she meant
I didn't have to explain
the poems she would never read.
