Manasquan Inlet NJ

When the Army Corps of Engineers completed a canal between Manasquan River & Barnegat Bay in 1926, so much water was diverted that Manasquan Inlet completely closed up. It was a disaster for the fishing fleet based on the river. The Corps constructed rock jetties, dredged the sand bar, & Manasquan Inlet was officially reopened on August 29, 1931, 75 years ago.
