Buck Owens
Cindy Walker, one of the most prolific and successful songwriters in the history of country music, died Thursday (March 23) in her hometown of Mexia, Texas, following a lengthy illness. She was 87.

Is it just me or does it seem like every time we turn around, someone obscurely famous is dying?
An unusual number of music-related deaths over the past few months. But I avoid the New York Times obituary pages, which are a daily record of the deaths of the obscurely famous in all fields of endeavor.
